Customer Questions

How do I place an order?

Search for your favourite local foods and add them to your cart. When you’re done shopping, proceed to check out. If you are a new user, register using a social account (ie. Google or Facebook) or manually by entering your personal information and creating a user name and password.

You will then be prompted to choose your local Hub (where you would like to pick up your order), and then directed to pay for your order using PayPal or a credit card. Once the payment is made and your order is confirmed, you will be notified by email.

 

When Can I Order?

Anytime! However, our ordering period is from Wednesday morning to the following week, Tuesday . That means, you can place your orders anytime before Tuesday at 11.59pm for same-week Friday delivery. There is a timer on the upper right of your screen indicating the time left to order during that order cycle.

Where can I see my order history?

Once you Login to you account, you can view this information under order history.

What is the required minimum order?

The minimum order required is $20.

How do I edit my account or payment information?

Once you Login to your account, you can view or edit the information.

What if I can’t pick up my order?

Please contact us at info@locavorest.com or 705-243-4821.

If you can’t pick up the order within the pick-up time window, technically the HUB representative has the right to either donate the order or keep it for themselves. However, we’ll do our very best to make sure all orders are received.

What do I do with the packaging?

All our packaging are recyclable and biodegradable. You can dispose them in the blue bins.

What do I do if there are no Locavorest Hubs in my area?

You can start one!
How? Simple, go to Sign up as a Hub and submit the form. One of our representatives will contact you within 24-48 hours.

When will my order be delivered?

All orders are delivered on Friday to the Hub locations. You can confirm the Hub and the pick-up time you’ve selected by checking your receipt.

Are all the products locally grown or made?

Yes! All our products are 100% locally grown, produced or value-added. Please visit our Producers page to find out more about our fabulous Producers.

How will the food stay cold?

All our products that require cold storage are stored in coolers with FDA approved, reusable, cold pack gels.

How will the food arrive?

We batch your orders and deliver them to your chosen Locavorest Hub within 8 hours ensuring high quality food, food that’s fresh, safe, delicious, and nutritious.

Who can become a Locavorest Hub?

Anyone! If you prefer eating local food, want to support your local community, want to support farmers and like promoting our service, then you may be a perfect fit for hosting a Locavorest Hub.

What are a Hub’s responsibilities?

In order to be approved as a Hub, Hub representatives must ensure that a minimum of 4 people have registered as Locavorest users, with the intention of picking up at your Hub.

How do I sign up as a Locavorest Hub?

On the “Pick up” Tab, click on “Host a Locavorest Hub” and submit the form. One of our representatives will contact you within 24-48 hours.

What are the benefits of being a Locavorest Hub?

You are supporting your local community and producers! You can also share your love for local food and help grow our local food system. What’s more?   After sales from your Hub reach $100 during any given order cycle,  you receive 10% of those sales.

When do I get paid?

Payments will be made on a monthly basis, on the weekend of, or following the last day of the month.

What is the weekly time commitment for being a Locavorest Hub?

Locavorest Hubs are asked to dedicate a minimum of 2 hours on  Friday, between 2-9 pm. During this time, Hub representatives should be available for customers to visit to pick up their orders. This time will be determined before the Hub is approved.

What if I am unavailable to manage a pickup?

Hub representatives must give Locavorest 10 days notice to any change in their availability.

What do I do if an order hasn’t been picked up?

If an order has not been collected during the listed pick-up times, Locavorest Hub representatives have the right to donate the order or keep it for themselves.  However, we will do our best to ensure that all customers received their orders. Please contact a Locavorest representative if a customer fails to pickup their order.

Where can I host a Locavorest Hub?

Nearly any location has the potential to host a Locavorest Hub! We are currently partnered with Schools, individuals, community organizations, businesses and gyms.

Can Locavorest Hub Representatives place orders?

Absolutely! We encourage you to!
